Needed to joint the edges of the boards for a cabinet I'm building for SWMBO. As I don't have one yet I figured I just make do with a piece of MDF and a router. First I had to adjust the boards parallel to the MDF it was setting on. I accomplished this with a 5-6" depth mike. Worked pretty good as I was able to set the amount I wanted to remove and make it parallel to the back side of the board, which had already been jointed.

Don't let on that I can do this with tools I already have as a jointer and a planer are on my wish list. But, it can be done.

Jim,
When I first started my "jointer" was a router installed in an extension table of my contractor saw and the fence was a split fence where I installed a piece of laminate to shim out the outfeed side. It worked too!

I had never used the poor man's jointer. I was going to set up my router table to do it, but then I can across a steal on a craftsman benchtop...

Looks like it is working well!
