wood for saw kits question

Planning on making a Kerfing plane and Framesaw using the kits from Bad Axe.

Ash ok to use? I got some nice thick 8/4 left over stock. Also have some 8/4 hardmaple, 8/4 poplar.

I'd prefer to use ash, for some reason recently I have become partial to ash.

If I were you, I would buy a piece of ash if that's your preference.

Ash should work fine.

It also makes good chisel handles.

I'd use the ash over poplar for sure. Maple or Ash? Either would be fine. I think grain direction is most importantly for the frame saw.
