This is a picture of some knotty pine wainscotting that was sitting over head in my shop I looked up and was like WOW. When I put it there it was straight and certainly not split. prolly the worst warp/twist/checking I've ever seen. it is about 1/4" thick.

I think that when you joint 1 side flat and run it thru planer to true it up, Staight line it and joint both sides, you will at least end up with 1 prefectly flat ,true TOOTHPICK
