So got this in my email, been looking for a BandSaw. http://www.grizzly.com/search?q=(altcategory:%22Santa+Sale%22)&id=anJpc2Vib0BnbWFpbC5jb20%3d&utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=112918-SantaSpecial_top

Anyone own the G0513X2? http://www.grizzly.com/products/Grizzly-17-Bandsaw-2HP-w-Cast-Iron-Trunnion/G0513X2

Also what do you think about the G0513ANV http://www.grizzly.com/products/Grizzly-17-2-HP-Bandsaw-Anniversary-Edition/G0513ANV

Looks like the steel trunnion and fence are the biggest difference. Wheels are CI vs AL too. Last thing is the blade guides. Is all that extra worth a 150$

Thanks

I have the GO513X2 and love it. I use it to resaw and cut bowl blanks.

The G0513ANV would be the same as the G0513. The prices may not right as many could be lower than shown on these charts. Check the website for the latest pricing.

Thanks.

I like the G0513X2 for the cast iron options, reesaw fence. Not sure if the blade guides is that big of a deal, whats the upgrade there?

Bigger table is shown on the chart.

The 513ANV is a price point saw and I would not recommend it unless you do not have the money for the 513X2. The guides, larger table and especially the resaw fence attachment make the X2 more than worth the price difference. There are actually a couple of 14" saws I prefer over the ANV at a similar price unless one absolutely needs the extra 3 inches of throat.

Not sure if the blade guides is that big of a deal,

The blade guides on the ANV are a rather rudimentary duplication of what is called Euro guides a good Euro guide is a pleasure to set and use, these are not tool free and just not near as good as the bearing guides on the X2. I am not a big fan of the X2's type of "skateboard" bearing guides but they are better than the ANV guides even though they are allso not toolless.

I too am happy with my G0513X2, but I do not love the guides. I expect that I will replace them with toolless ones eventually.

A few bucks for a t-handle ball-hex driver solves the non-tool-less problem for me. I keep it at the saw and it is easier for me than knurled knobs. I have the G0513X which is a no-longer-offered saw. It is identical to dad's G0513X2 but, with steel trunnions instead of cast iron; same hardened teeth. For the price, this saw is great for me.

I just got the G0817 yesterday. I like the idea of the "T" handle tool. This is my first bandsaw so it's going to be interesting learning about there uses. I have other Grizzly tools and have been happy with them. Great customer service. Didn't there use to be thread by Van about blades?397803

Still there:

It's in a general sticky thread at the top of this section.

so I am looking at this bandsaw (G0817) vs the G0513x2 for cutting bowl blanks.
The x2 is a bit cheaper and has gotten a lot of good reviews. I couldn’t find much on the G0817. How is it running so far for you William?
anyone else have any insight between these 2 saws?
thanks,
Tom

I have not got it piped in to my dust collector yet because been trying to get some presents complete. I'm really excited about it though. I'll update once I get it going and use it. This is my first bandsaw so I'm greener than green using one
