Used Laguna Bandsaws, 2002 vs 2006?

I'm struggling deciding on which is better before I decide on offering to buy.

2002 LT18 non ceramic guides. Seller says 15.1 amp motor, not sure hp but just under 12" resaw. Wants $1200

2006 LT16hd 3hp baldor, ceramic guides, mobile base and mobility. just under 12" resaw.

If the LT16HD is cheaper, is that a good saw to get? The saw is the same so I don't see an advantage on the 18".

Is 11" roughly resaw too limiting? I have a 14" jet with a riser and attempted resawing once with no luck and that was only a 6" board.

I think I can get the lt16hd for $800...maybe ;)

Short answer the LT16HD is the heavier duty version of the two. It is a nice ACM built saw if you can get it for $800 you should be on your way there now.

The older LT 18 were not designed for heavy resaw use. I'd go with the heavier build. That year LT 18 is great with 3/16-1/2" blades. Dave
