I am looking replacing my bandsaw in 2019, wondering has anyone been in my position and wondered which one to get?

I was told by my Felder agent that FB640 is not made by Felder (I have a feeling it is ACM?) and hence cost more.

I do ripping on my bandsaw and thats probably 99% of the time.

The 640 is an ACM saw very similar to the Laguna LT24 x 17. They are built a little better than the 610. The 640 is very overpriced as you can get the Laguna LT24 x 17 or the heavier built MM24/Formula 600 (a Centauro CO HD) for much less money. Normally I would just say get the Formula 600 which is the best saw of the new steel variety but if you are only ripping the 610 would be more than adequate.

Note I am working on US prices and availability which may be significantly different on the other side of the world.

Get a minimax or vintage

If I recall from previous threads by the OP, Albert has better access to Felder than other brands in his geography...so based on commentary so far, I'd suggest the 640 of the two he's asking about.

Ripping with my FB610 is a pleasure! Very easy to resaw 16" as well.

Very good memory Jim! yes the Felder is more accessible than SCM to me.

I had a S400P(MM16) before, for some stupid reason I sold it...
