I started with a bigger piece of Osage - donated by Dennis Peacock - and had to turn it down quite a bit trying to get rid of a big, nasty crack. I have the other half of this piece roughed into a bigger bowl, so I'm anxious to finish turn it soon.

This wood cuts like concrete when roughing out! But it sure finishes up clean and sands very smooth.

5-1/4" wide, 4-1/2" tall

Osage is beautiful stuff and you definitely did it justice with your NE form. A pro-turner friend of mine sells every piece of osage that he turns as quickly as he puts it out. He "enhances" the cracks with turquoise inlace and people just love the yellow/orange and blue contrasts.

Good job!

Nice Mark! I like the Osage Orange too. I have a few blanks but only big enough for pens, stoppers, handles etc. I'd like to get my mitts on a big hunk of it.

I really love the color in that thing, Mark. Just may have to grapple onto a chunk of that one day.
