Looking for opinions on a Grizzly G0500?

I’m looking at a used G0500 8” jointer that was upgraded to a spiral cutterhead. The current owner is selling off his dad’s equipment and has very little information about it but a close up photo of the cutterhead makes me think it’s a Byrd Shelix (think I see a curve to the carbide cutters). He wants $500 and I’m waffling. My current jointer is a 6” Craftsman and it’s a definite upgrade.

Should I pull the trigger?

I don't know if you should pull the trigger, but if the tables are flat, it runs smooth--I'd find it hard not to consider at $500. Spiral cutterhead would be a $350+ cost to upgrade from straight knives, whether a Grizzly or a Byrd.

Byrd heads for my delta jointers (8'') are $425 or $465. So I would check it out and if the beds are flat ,buy it.
