View Full Version : How to keep sites from opening on boot up

When I boot up my computer, a porn site screen appears on my screen.

I turn it off, but how can I prevent it from coming back?

A web browser opens with that in it, or it's on screen without any browser window?

It is a Google Chrome notification that comes up. I will attempt to disable the Chrome notifications.
I just rebooted and it did not come back. I'm glad to be rid of it.

You may have already used this, but this (found via search) will potentially allow you to remove any sites that have that set:
How to remove/disable notifications in web browsers:
Google Chrome (PC):
Click the Menu button (three dots) on the right upper corner of the screen
Select "Settings", scroll down to the bottom and click "Advanced"
Scroll down to the "Privacy and security" section, select "Content settings" and then "Notifications"
Click three dots on the right hand side of each suspicious URL and click "Block" or "Remove" (if you click "Remove" and visit the malicious site once more, it will ask to enable notifications again)

I gave up using Chrome after it had been hacked numerous times and went back to using Opera which never gets hacked but is basically Chrome with a new face and better features.

The problem I had with Opera was that no bank, credit card company etc. I visited would support it.

Must be an American thing as I do all my financial stuff in Opera.

I went to Reimage Repair and paid them to fix my computer. They eliminated the issues I described.
No more objectionable sites showed up this morning.

It might be worth trying again. Opera today uses Chromium as a base and adds their own bits.

Sorry if i am asking so many questions but the online tech was from microsoft or some other? :D

Unlikely to be MS. They never have been willing to log in remotely and fix anything, at least that I'm aware of. More likely some computer repair service that set up a remote session and did this for him. Many out there are not trustworthy, but I'm sure Lowell was careful about it.
