Yesterday, my Oneida Pro 2000 was starting, then after a second, it shut down. Further attempts to start have failed.
I have power to the remote control box.
I have power from the RC box to the 5hp Baldor motor.
The impeller spins freely by hand.
When I try to start the unit, the impeller moves about an inch.

On the side of the motor, there are three capacitors. 2 of the three are identical.

Anyone have a similar problem?
Does this sound like a capacitor issue?

I guess I can try to figure out how to test each one?

the DC is about 10 years old.

Thanks for any help

I would give Oneida a call.

The black ones are the start capacitors. The metal case one is the run capacitor.

It could be the centrifugal starting switch, or the start caps are open...........Rod

Spin it by hand as fast as you can then turn on the power. If it runs and gets up to speed the run capacitors are good. If it still does not run it is most likely the run capacitors.

For any motor I would first suspect the start switch then the start capacitor just as I think they are most likely to fail.

I have a motor exhibiting the same symptoms. Where is good place to get replacement capacitors?

You can purchase capacitors at most electrical houses, motor shops or eBay. Make sure you're specific in your order!
Or in the case of a local purchase take the bad one as a sample.
