I recently bought a older Powermatic 50 6" jointer. I ordered a set of new knives for it. Everywhere I looked it has the knife size listed as 6 x 3/4 x 1/8 so that was was I bought. It turns out the knives in my jointer are 6 x 11/16 x 1/8. Does anyone know if the Powermatic 50 ever used 11/16" tall knives, or were the wrong size knives installed in the Jointer? The knives that are in there now are Powermatic branded model P-9052-P.
If I use the 3/4" knives I bought I think I can raise the table height to match. I would like to confirm that all model 50's used the 3/4" knives before I mess with trying to make these work.

I don't know the exact answer, but it may be that the ones in there have been sharpened enough to take the 1/16" off. I don't ever remember seeing knives advertised as 11/16.

I would look at how far the knifes protrude from the head. If they stick out too far they will mess with the way the machine was designed to cut.
1/32 showing then the bevel angle starts.

Thanks for the help. I have it figured out. It basically came down to me being a newbie and not knowing how to adjust the knives. I didn't realize that the height was adjusted with the jack screws.

That’s great your head has them. I went several years without them on mine.

I used to have a little Ridgid JP0610 jointer. I have used both sizes of knives and it made no difference. If one size or the other won't work, you will probably be able to tell rather quickly because you will run into either clearance or clamping issues.

I was able to get them installed and set. All seems to be working well :). Thanks again.
