Lemon bottle stoppers. PICs

A customer asked for bottle stoppers to use with bottles of lemon liquor he makes and gives to friends. I suggested lemon shaped stoppers dyed yellow. This is what I came up with. About 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/4" wide. The picture doesn’t show the little dimple in the top to simulate the stem scar. Turned from pear and dyed with Homestead lemon yellow(of all things) alcohol dye. Finished with several light coats of Deft gloss lacquer.

Pear is an excellent wood for turning. It is the first time I have dyed pear. Excellnt for that too.

Those are cool, Dave! If you had a couple of years, you could take a dremel or something and texture them.:D

Thinking of that Carol, I have been wanting to do something like that but put in that crushed stone stuff, like they did in a few woodturners design magazine awhile back. I was kind of thinking of doing on pens, but they seem a little too smal to get a nice pattern. I do have two-three bottle stoppers left though. I am going have to try that over break! THanks for the idea.
