The previous thread got me to thinking about the andle of a drill bit. There are 118 degree, 135 dregee etc. what is best for wood. I'm talking twist bits.

118* is preferred for softer materials like wood, plastics and soft metals. 135* works best in harder materials.

No set rule for me. It depends entirely on what the purpose of the hole is. For example, if you want quick and rough, go for a greater angle, if you have thin material, go for a shallow angle etc. The comments from Bruce and Greg are the starting point. Cheers
