Hey everyone, I have been working with 1/32 birch veneer plywood, Im not going to say what I have been working on, but I have a question? I have been trying to add a dye or stain the 1/32, I have tried lots of ideas, but the dye wont fully go through the 1/32, like I want the 1/32 to be fully dyed, not just some parts of the plywood, does anyone have any idea on how to fully dye or stain a 1/32, what kind of dye should I use? Here are some examples of what Im trying to do..

Hi Alex,
First things first, WELCOME to SMC.
What ever it is you are planing to do, I must say it sure appears to be on a very large scale.
My honest opinion is that any type of dye or stain will find it difficult to fully penetrate beyond the adhesive used to bound the Lamentations. If one was to dye the individual pieces before gluing to the plywood state, that would seem more realistic.
I am not a plywood specialist, I do know that there are only two kinds, and FWIW, just my thoughts. Best of luck in your adventure.

Welcome Alex. I think Bill is right when it comes to getting penetration beyond the adhesive. You might want to try pulling a vacuum on the container in which you are dying. When the air is pulled out the die will replace it when the vacuum is removed. That's how they "pressure" treat wood I think.

Cecil has a handle on the process...the dye has to be forced into the fibers to get it through and through. It's not easy to do that "at home", unfortunately, although you can try and work with vacuum for small scale objects and thin sheets.
