Spalted using the Travis Stinson method...

I sure like the way Gum turns and finishes... only thing I don't like about it is that it warps easier than the USS Enterprise... :D

8-3/8" wide, 3" tall, 1/4" thick

Okay, that was kinda a poke at Travis... but he really did tell me how to do this. He has a spalted Gum bowl that he did a while back - a WILD looking spalted Sweet Gum! Anyway, I asked him how the heck he did it...

Just capped one end of a log with Anchorseal and then stood it up on the ground on the unsealed end for about 3-4 months. It looked NASTY on the bottom when I finally got to it, but it had spalted nicely.

I can vouch for this method but you do need to check periodically on the progress as once past a certain point, the stock will get punky fast!! (damhikt)
