Is there any way around this or do I have to pay? I've never used this customs broker and they just sent the customs release info that is attached..

Is this customs broker correct or did they do something wrong here? Is there a chance the ISF did not get filed properly (I used easyisf.com to do that part).

They are saying US Customs is putting a 25% tarriff on the laser cutter. The Laser cutter cost around $4,000 and the Customs fees are over $1,000

The customs broker is saying that the new duties implemented earlier this week are causing this.

CUSTOMS ENTRY FEE 90.00
FDA PRIOR NOTICE 30.00
EST. DUTY AND FEES TO CUSTOMS 1,163.28
Single Entry Bond 75.00
Total Duty $1,132.44
499 - Merchandise Processing Fee $25.67
501 - Harbor Maintenance Fee $5.17

Total to get it cleared through US Customs: $1,358.28 for a $4k laser from wklaser.com

Laser Model: LC1610N with Reci 80W laser tube, motorized up down table, red dot, auto focus, RD6442 controller, knives table and honeycomb table

Wait until the ones Trump added yesterday kick in, just in time for Christmas. Farmers here in Iowa got a bail out to help.

One of the biggest tax increases in history-- you didn't think the Chinese were going to pay the tariffs, did you?

would this one work for you. I bought my first one from them and had very good luck and customer service.

A tariff is a tax, added on and collected by USA. Make America Great Again, next time purchase a Made in USA laser.... and TV, Smart phone, computer, MRI machine and etc.

Its still cheaper than the one from Automation Tech :)

No, there is no way around it. You will have to pay the tax.

ABSOLUTELY! And it ain't just lasers. But Yep, it is a BUY American now.....
At least until the Chinese stop dumping.

And if you buy an Ebay or Amazon laser, make darn sure it is already in the country. (even then you might have to pay if it is really not past customs.)

How long before this thread spirals out of control? I'm surprised we've made it this far

I hope folks do not think my answer was serious. But it would be Nice to move manufacturers back to the US, but it can't be done overnight. Next time you purchase frozen fish, look at where it was processed. I will not even purchase dog food made in China.

Last post did post to thread.

I wonder if Chinese lasers that are wholesaled to Germany and Poland and redistributed and shipped to the USA are affected by import tariff or just items that direct ship from China?

Sorry folks but I have to close this thread. The last thread we had concerning tariffs was fine with me but a lot of people complained because they can't differentiate the tax topic from politics.
