Here is a piece of maple I got from John Hart this summer. Jim Ketron made me a "D" handle hollowing rig that I finally got set up and used. It works great, thanks again Jim.

It is about 8-1/2" x 5" and is 3/16" from top to about 1/2" from the bottom and is finished with Watco and buffed on with the three wheels.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful work as usual Dick. Did you use watco natural or one with pigment?

Hi David, thanks.

I used the Watco natural. I just love the way it coats and finishes.

Great looking form, Dick and wonderful finish! That chunk 'o wood has certainly been given a second life! Well done!:)

Hey Jim, that's a neat looking rig! Based on the Jamieson, isn't it? Been wanting to try an HF, but most definitely can't afford equipment like that and still pay for the electricity to turn the lathe!:) Still, might have to try a small one, for which I think I should have some type of tool that would work!:)

Thanks everyone, this is the first deep hollow form I did. Since then I have done two and don't like the shape of either one.:( One was poor planning and the other one the wood dictated the shape.

I have another one ready to turn today so I will give it another try.

Thanks again.
