I saw a guy walking through Lowe's today with two narrow (8"?) live edge slabs, maybe 6' long and 2" thick. Looked like pine. What is up with that?

Last time I was at Menards they had many species of live edge boards.

Noticed that it was from Lowe's Canada.

I went to Lowes a few days ago for some yellow pine 2x4’s and at least a third of the stack was live edge. They were not even charging extra! What a deal!

They are available in the States, too - can be ordered on-line, and some stores stock them. The closest one that has them in stock is ~ 15 miles from me, so I might have a look some day when I have some time on my hands. They also have a variety of pre-fab metal leg assemblies, sized for end tables, coffee tables, etc. so you can build a "kit."

That was exactly my first thought, too. However, for the past couple of weeks I have been able to get surprisingly decent 2x4 and 2x6 lumber from my local H.D. I'm sure it' won't last; they'll probably find that buyer and fire him.

That wasn't live edge lumber, it was just a couple of their typical 2x4s.
