This may sound like a stupid question. And, maybe it is. But...
I have a Japanese cutting gauge. The cutter is wedged in extremely tight, and I can't seem to shock it loose by tapping the body of the gauge as one does the body of a plane: it's completely ineffective.
I also pulled at it with pliers -- of course to no effect.
How do you get these things out to sharpen them?
