Hello! I was wondering if someone could explain the benefits to running an external compressor on my Speedy400 80watt. I have an air directly where my laser is and would like to know if it's worth while to set it up for additional psi instead of running the internal air assist. 80% of our work is vector cutting 1/4" Baltic Birch and 1/4" MDF along with engraving as well as some 3mm acrylic vector cutting.

Thanks in advance!

Will

Never seen the need for high pressure air on our lasers. I tested it years ago and I saw no benefit in my testing.

I'm with Steve on this one. I've cut lots of 1/4" maple and alder as well as 1/4" acrylic and haven't seen the need for any more air than what the internal compressor provides. One thing to note is that my compressor was set very low when I got it and I increased it to maximum output. I don't recall exactly how I did it, but I think it was a matter of turning a valve/knob on the compressor.

Here's the white paper on adjusting air pressure.
