Well, another weekend has come and gone. I did have to do a little work for "work" this weekend, but nothing real bad.

Gearing up for Christmas and the LOML has me hoping like a barefoot dude on a hot bed coals! We're making letter openers, salad tongs, bowls, and finally, kids lap desks. I am only "required" to make 2 of the kids lap desks, but now the LOML is getting the idea that our own 4 kids would like to have one....so guess what? I know a hint when I hear it.;)

Anyway, this week.....<b>I'm off work.!!!!!</b> WOO-HOO!!!!!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxmk311BBUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_17_211.gif' border=0></a>
It's visiting family in Alabama this week, so I'll be in Huntsville, AL this week, Hello Ernie Hobbs? The FIL's health has been a bit "iffy" so we'll also be taking a trip to Prattville, AL to visit the in-laws. Maybe I can talk the LOML into making a stop at Woodcraft in Birmingham, AL.!!! :D

So what did YOU do this weekend?

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you..!!!!!!

Saturday we went shopping for wood for a bed for my daughter. Saturday night and Sunday, I finished up her bedside table and milled all of the pieces of the bed to rough size. I have to get a lot done on the bed this week since it is going to be a Christmas gift for her. Its key too, as the big guy is going to bring her her bedding and curtains.

Sat I spent some shop time and sold my old bandsaw. Sunday made a road trip and picked up some red elm and some hackberry to make more bandsaw boxes. Think I have the BSB Bug.

I finish ladscaping the back hillside, then I cut up a bunch of maple for a table I'm making. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=26546

Other then that it was NASCAR and Church.

I'll be helping my son move to Phoenix next weekend so the only shop time I'll get this week will be in the evenings...

Made a wheelchair ramp. Its made of oak plywood, supported by 5/4 pine "joists", on 12" centers. It has a edge guard of some left over cherry. Finish is oil based poly, three coats, with two coats of West Marine clear Non-Skid.

Unfortunately, its made for my wife's niece, to bridge the step from mud
room in her family home.

Since our granddaughters are going camping for Thanksgiving we celebrated Thanksgiving with our weekly Sunday night dinner.

Cooked the turkey on the Weber on Saturday, mesquite chips for the smoke, and spent much time on the cutting board chopping and dicing for all the family Thanksgiving dinner recipes.

Between the cooking was a little shop time on the girls storage lockers, church/bookstore, and the usual "honey-do" stuff.

Looking forward to the new week and more shop time, oops, just learned that this Christmas decoration week also, indoor and outdoor.

You can guess how I will be spending my time. TJH ;)

My son turned 6 this weekend so the weekend was all about him. Like it should be.

Saturday we had a playmates birthday at a local gymnastics place. The boys got to trampoline, have an obsticle course, play all kinds of fun games, basically get totally worked up. Then it was cake and presents. dad got to help him build all the Lego's he got (secret dad likes helping him with this part). Had a firend over for more fun time later that day.

Watched "Sahara", which was totally cheesy.

Sunday was family birthday time, we had a nice day and of course more presents.

Finally some down time that evening. Thus no shop time. I am off starting Wednesday so maybe I can find some time to get into the shop, sandwiched around getting ready for Thanksgiving at our house this year.... OK, I am dreaming if I think I'll get any time in.

Friday night I finished up an order of 34 rp red oak doors and got them to the customer on Saturday morning. I started an order of 33 eastern white pine flat panel divided doors and 17 flat panel drawer fronts Saturday morning and finished them up on Sunday afternoon. Customer came by this morning before my day job and picked them up.

Blew leaves from around my shop and out of the shrub beds and mulched them with the lawn mower yesterday afternoon late. I also moved a bedroom suite from one house to another.

Busy as a one armed paper hanger in a wind storm.:(

Painted on Saturday and Sunday morning :( .

Got into the shop Sunday evening. Gashed one piece by tilting the router on an edge detail. Then had another piece shredded by my chamfering bit (which is apparently dull  ). Had a kickback while patching the pieces I messed up and decided I wasn't meant to be in the shop that night.

I finally finished a project! And I used plans and everything!

I finished my pair of arts and crafts lamps and as a novice hobbyist it is quite an accomplishment. Thanks to everyone here for the help although you probably don't realize you helped. I am an infrequent poster but almost daily reader of this forum and the amount of information to be gleaned here is just incredible. I attached a picture so be gentle.

Saturday, cleaned up my little shop(never ending) Sunday, started work on some dovetail boxes. In the middle of glue up the radio had a news flash, gunman shooting people at JC Penney's at the Tacoma Mall. My daughter was at work at that time, at Penney's. Tried calling her cell, no answer, tried driving to the Mall, all roads closed off. After about an hour and a half, she called using someone's cell, she was ok as well as her coworkers, they had been evacuated to a lot across the street. I got back home and opened a beer, the box was ruined, the glue had cured before I had a chance to put them together, but overall, A GOOD DAY!

Wow Jim, I think you and Pete Harbin win bragging rights for the weekend. :D Well done, and congrats.

Me, I just milled some lumber for a new cutting board project, and built a few jigs for gluing it up (hopefully) exactly square. Also spent time Sunday evening setting up a new printer, only to find out that it's going back to the store this evening after work. When the printer says "reinsert color cartridge" no matter how many times I install the brand-new color cartridge, it's time to go back. (I'm not willing to spend another $35 on a replacement cartridge simply to prove it's a faulty machine.) The rest of the weekend was pretty much consumed with honey-do stuff.

So what did YOU do this weekend?

Actually took two long weekends. Today I got a final coat of paint on the trim and the cedar singles stained. Everything is now safe for the winter...and both cars now fit in the garage for the first time in 7 years!

I had some foot surgery on Friday to remove two bone spurs on my left big toe. I’ll be hobbling around with a walker/wheelchair for the next 4 or 5 weeks. I can tell you first hand that this ain’t no fun! :(

For the first time since last March, I actually spent the weekend in the shop doing "real" woodworking.

My lifelong friend Terry West from Ottawa spent an extended weekend (starting Friday morning) with us, and we madder a great start on a cabinet for his TV room.

We made a lot of:
26320

Turning white oak quarter sawn boards like those to the left of Terry (looking at the picture below) into semi-finished parts such as the glued-up cabinet top to the right of Terry.
26321

In two and a half days we got about two/thirds of the preparation and assembly work done. Another long weekend in January should finish the job.

By the way, Terry has not done much woodworking before, but he is a good learner, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself
