I've been racking my brain trying to remember the name of the decorative designs cut inside a piece of wood. Must be my age. The design is commonly found in Arts & Crafts pieces and they are usually symmetrical. I assume the wood is cut in half, each half is "mirror imaged" and the design is cut in both pieces at the same time with a band, scroll, or sabre saw. The pieces are then glued back together.
What's the name of this technique, and is this the way to cut the design?
Thanks!

Does this leave a piece with holes clear through that allow air to pass or is it a solid panel with no vent holes?

Glenn Bradley, that's what it's called. Thank you for setting me straight!
