The wood came from an oak vanity that my Mom bought about 60 years ago. It was a basket case and my Dad never got around to it, and it has been in my brothers attic for 35 years. His son is getting married so I salvaged enough wood to make a very simple wdding box for him. The sides with the handles are 2 of the original drawer fronts which had 3" oc holes drilled. Sides came from the sides of the drawers, etc. My first box with hand cut dovetails.

That's a really nice re-purposing idea! Great execution, too.

I like your idea and the manner in which you carried it out. Your nephew and future spouse will cherish it, I'm sure! Well done Sir!

Nice piece of work. It'll not only be cherished for the thoughtfulness and craftsmanship behind it, but for its legacy value as well.

thanks for the kinds words, gents. I have several pieces left over that I'll save for a special occasion. Here's what I started with: if had not been nailed together, with cracks all over, I might have tried restoring it.

Very neat. The handles set it off. I like when I can reuse material.
