44" diameter table - where to mount the equalizing slides?

I'm trying to decide how close together(or far apart for that matter) to mount my table slides on this 44" round table. Any rule of thumb or general suggestion? I'm probably going to make a small, simple apron to hide the slides. Not a round, circumferential apron, but more of a rectangle, as low profile as possible.
