I got myself a little workbench for the house, and it came with a steel pegboard with 1/4" holes. Problem: the hangers that came with it are about 3/16" in diameter, and it looks like all the hangers sold on the Internet are little scrawny 1/8" steel.

Does anyone sell 3/16" pegboard hangers?

Home Depot and Lowe's sell hooks for 1/4" pegboard. Home Depot's hooks come with slightly better plastic "locks" to keep the hooks in place. Lowe's hook locks are just bad enough that it's a crapshoot if a single one works or not, at least HD's are thick enough that all of the ones included in the package will hold.

Google "Talon pegboard hooks." They're a little pricey, but they hold tenaciously.

Oddly, I found a nice variety pack of 1/4" pegboard hooks at Wal Mart. About $5.

Using 1/8" hooks in a 1/4" board will drive you crazy.

Will Talon hooks work in thin steel pegboard?

I don't know, but when I bought some to use with the brown pegboard from Home Depot, they wouldn't fit. The pegboard apparently had 6mm holes, instead of 1/4", and I had to ream out.every hole that I wanted to put a Talon hook into. So check your pegboard hole diameter with 1/4" drill bit before buying Talons.

Took one to HD today & tried it in one of their display pegboards - fit fine. The Talon might wiggle a bit in the thinner material, but it won't fall out.

I had a similar complaint... the peg hooks I could get at Home Depot were scrawny, and expensive. I went to Harbor freight and got a large package of the beefier ones for about $5.00. They seem to fit my pegboard just fine.

I really like the Triton pegboard hooks: http://a.co/8UxseOX (http://a.co/8UxseOX). They're also pricier, and probably won't work in steel pegboard, but once you screw in the hooks, they're not going anywhere. Obviously they take more time to install or uninstall, so planning before hand before screwing them in will save a lot of time.
