I picked up a Sorby Lathe over the weekend. Interested in finding out if anyone on here has any experience with these machines?

I've never seen or even heard of one, but I see there is some info here that might be useful if you haven't seen it:

Depends on which one. I have turned on a very old round bar unit that they sold back in the 90's. Excellent machine. Don't know anything about any newer ones.

Never used one but the Sorby tools I have have been good.
Maybe not a lot sold in the states. These blokes allow yanks on the site and can probably answer any specific questions.

Thanks for the responses.

In case anyone is curious, here's a picture of the lathe I got--apparently they're not that common; I hope I did the attachment right.

It is a '95, but it has been upgraded with variable speed some years back, apparently with tech support from Sorby. I contacted Sorby and they were very good and fast about emailing me a pdf of the manual.

We shall see how she turns...

Looks like it was taken very good care of, .. or barely used.
