I am looking for plans for metal body bench and block planes.

I am an avid woodworker but also a hobby machinist. I am lucky to have a nice machine shop and tooling. So I have wanted to make a couple of planes as projects and thought I would ask here.

The publication Shop Notes had a couple and I have those in my archives. Any other tips to sources or perhaps examples you've done would be appreciated.

There is a book written by Jim Kingshott, ISBN 0-946819-32-7 called Making and Modifying Woodworking Tools. I think you will find it's exactly what you are looking for. Looks like it's out of print, but can be found on Amazon for between $60-$90

If you do a search of that book on the net, you can find some good archived discussion of the pluses and minuses of the information, and some helpful hints.

I recommend looking over Bill Carter’s YouTube channel and website, and make a small miter plane.

I'm not much of a machinist but I've made a couple plane. Scroll through them. Somewhere in there is a list of helpful links including some plans.

The Bill Carter reference is a good one.
