A friend of mine is looking to build a secretary. Anyone have a good source for plans? I usually come up with something or copy a picture, but these can be a bit complicated. thanks, Rob.

A long time ago, back when the Rodale Press ran AWW magazine (now defunct and absorbed by Popular Woodworking), they had a subscription service where you could buy once a month plans made by Carlyle Lynch. Carlyle, long since passed, documented various pieces of period furniture and made very detailed plans for aspiring woodworkers to copy. Some are still in print. You can see the desk related plans here: https://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/store/dept/CLLS
If any of those strike your fancy, you can't go wrong with the plans.

Glen Huey has a couple books with plans (sort of) for an 18th century Pennsylvania secretary. It is what I used to build mine. Google it or PM me. I have two copies. Bob

Lonnie Bird had a pretty nice secretary build in FWW 155/156, IIRC, at the time there were not full size plans available, but that could have changed in 15 years.. I built two of the secretaries from the article..

There's a great plan from the book "With Plane, Saw, and Chisel."
