I saw this video from another forum that I frequent (MIMF).
They'd mentioned that this was the most unusual use of a go-bar deck.

Personally, I think it's humbling and beautiful to see what can be made with one's hands.
Also, a greater appreciation of horned wooden hand planes in use!

Wow! Well worth the time to watch. This must be in northern Sweden or Norway since they were working in the snow then the captions said "Three months later" and they were still in the snow. Thanks Matt.

Does anybody know what that little peg maker at 5:20 is called? I've never seen one like that.

Just a WAG but it looks a lot like gasket punch that I have if one was to cut the handle off to allow longer pegs to pass through

Nice! The first time I hewed a beam, I decided that it was best done in the woods, so you don't have to clean up the mess left.

That is pretty awesome. I have been contemplating a canoe build for a few years, more along the lines of skin on frame than that level of cool though.

Amazing. Wonderful to watch. Life in Latvia looks good if you're a green woodworker with those skills and my fantasy workshop!

By the way, I think that's a Narex chisel he is using at 15:07.

By the way, I think the northman's guild might be based in Eureka, California (near the Oregon Border).

There's another video that I think will resonate with most neander guys here:

The voiceover guy is the owner of a Blue Ox millworks.

On looking more, I think you might be right about Latvia.

Maybe I'm cynical Matt, but I almost expected a bottle of expensive men's aftershave to be offered at the end of that. Artisanal, of course.
