Was wondering if any one has used the Amana VBits with replaceable carbide cutters, something like this:

The carbide replacements are around 20.00 or so.

We have 3 or 4 of them. Have worked very well for us

I haven't used them...yet...but they are on my longer-term purchase list, Anthony.

Good seeing you at the Aspire event!

They are on my list too. I'm waiting on a report from a friend that just bought them.

They're great. A lot of bang for the buck, since you can rotate the insert for two uses.

I went ahead and ordered the set. Once I've had a chance to use them I'll report back. Little expensive to get started, but replacement carbide tips are 22-25.00

Yea, that's the thing with insert cutters...the initial purchase hits quite a bit harder, but over time, they should be far more economical, especially if there is a bit of more abrasive material getting cut with them.

Anthony,

I have been using the insert cutters from Amana and Vortex for a while now and I absolutely love them. You guys are correct the initial investment is much more substantial initially but long term if your using your machines with the frequency you should be it will be way more economical long term than standard cutters. IMHO if you can swing the initial cost do it and don't look back you wont regret it.

I actually ordered the Amana insert V-Bits yesterday from ToolsToday and should have them today when the big brown truck arrives...I'm looking forward to putting them to work.

Wow...this things turn "smoothly". They are extremely well balanced. I played with the 60º bit today a little and was very impressed...'looking forward to putting the others to work real soon now.

I didn't see any...but I expect they will last a long time. They are darn sharp, too... ;)
