Here is a picture frame I just completed this past week, made from some cherry that my Father in law purchased over 65 years ago and had stored in his out building. The picture is a scene photographed by a friend of a wetland area in the fall on Presque Isle State Park, Pennsylvania. The frame is 18 x 24 and 1-1/2" wide. This color is the color of the piece of wood all the way through the piece.

That is a very classy frame! By the way, is that a print by Bollinger?

Sorry if I read your post, I wold have had my answer.

Very nice Lee! What did you use to cut your mitered corners?

Thanks for the comment.

The print is a photograph taken by a friend. He did the original matting and frame. LOML didn't like the original frame color for our remodeled office/family room. The frame is made of two pieces a straight piece with a rabbet for the glass, matting and photo and a piece of cock beading glued to the edge of the straight piece. The cherry was finished with three coats of brush on Deft semigloss lacquer. The miters were cut on my home made miter sled. The frame was clamped up for gluing with a clamp that fits outside the frame and pulls the four sides together using threaded rods and thumbscrews.
