36", or 42"? The pics won't load, so I can't blow up to see.
Either way, one of the best saws that size ever made in my opinion.

Very nice Darcy, I presume it's mostly for scroll work type applications?:D

Regards, Rod.

Actually going to rebuild the little y16 on the trailer with the y36 so they can use it for small work.

Nice. Very well done! That's an impressive piece of machinery.

I think you're going to need to hire some taller help, or get them some boxes to stand on. ;)

For those of us who are not OWWM enthusiasts, can you give some details?

1936 Yates American Y36. 5hp DD think it's about 20" under the guides. Weighs in at about 2700 pounds.

Nothing left untouched on the rebuild.

Yea but can you get a 1/8” or 3/16” blade for it? :D

How wide are the wheels and what max size blade is it designed to handle?
You sure do some amazing work reconditioning this big old iron. Very impressive.
Wish I had the space and shop for something like that.

Awesome!!! I always wanted to see what a 2" Woodmaster .7 TPI could do. The 16" looks like a toy, in comparison.

I can get any width or style blade from my saw sharpener.

I do almost all variety of work with a 3/8" 3tpi.

Think the wheels a 1 3/4" wide.

Put it on tracks and you can make lumber with it....

Wow, what a wonderful machine. I'm glad you included that last photo with the kids as it truly puts the massive tool into perspective relative to size! Thanks for bringing that thing back to life!

Now that's a Bandsaw.

Or a sawmill. You could saw lumber out of tree trunks with it.

The challenge with that is material handling...bandsaws like that were not designed with milling logs in mind. :)

That fifth pic with the little ones is the best. Save that.

Big saws are great, throat depth, height under guides, heavy enough to support large work, fast enough for production work and super smooth running.
