This is the second article in a series I am doing on the Veritas Combination Plane. This is more about using this plane - and others like it - than a formal review. This article is about ploughing grooves, which were the main feature of this box

Nice Derek. I guess, at some point, I'll end up buying that plane. I have a 45 that is often used so it's hard to purchase another combo. I like them so much, combos that is, I imagine it wouldn't hurt to have more than one. Veritas does need to come up with a cam support to finish out the product. Dedicated grooving planes are nice but it is also very nice to be able to adjust that groove just a bit to accommodate dovetail layout or the like.

Nice! Music from that era is often in my shop to accompany me.

One other use for a groove....one inside a box, offset from one on the outside.....makes a lip for the lid to seal on.

The outside groove makes this....the inside groove is made just above it...before the sides are glued up.

These are the inside "grooves"

Details of the grooves on the inside. One for the bottom panel, one for the top panel, and the middle for the lid's seal.
