time to do some resto on the Ulmia bench it has a number of issues. Previous owner stuck laminate on the wood vice with white glue and also on the front of the bench. I was able to remove that easily and in one piece but the stuff on the vice face is relentless. Easy if it had been put on with contact and understand some better shops did use white glue for laminate work.

This stubborn one im chipping off with a chisel then maybe to go t hand plane or could use the belt sander and coarse belt. Wonder if heat might have helped to loosen it could try the heat gun.

this strip came of easily

I know a guy who applied laminate by coating both surfaces with white glue, letting it dry & then using an iron press the laminate on. He said it worked great.

If it really is conventional white glue - moisture and a bit of heat will separate it fairly easily. The clothes iron and a good stiff putty knife is your friend. Getting the cursed stuff off the wood is another matter altogether. It's like trying to sand off chewing gum.... Most things sort of work.. Nothing works perfectly except to scrape the residue off with a good sharp card scraper....

the heat gun worked. bits of wood stayed on the laminate not a big deal as the face was getting planed anyway as its quite warped. Hard to plane an edge square the way it was when your board it tilted at an angle.
