My builder and I were discussing installing some cabinetry I built into the walk-in closets and he mentioned a "shaky saw". Does anyone know what that is?

Complete guess...When I install cabinetry in a space that already has baseboards, I cut them in place with a Fein Multitool. The oscillating action of the blade is kinda like shaking hands. Maybe he calls his a shaky saw.

Bingo! Apparently, this is what carpenters call an oscillating multitool. The trim carpenter knew exactly what he was talking about . I thought it was kinda funny.

That terminology hasn't made it around here, though I'm surprised it hasn't. "Oscillating" is a $40 word to folks is these parts.

My contractor buddy calls them "vibrators". :D.

"vibrators"
That would require another very specialized attachment for the tool, and one that would not have much use in a woodshop.
