I found this block plane in a pile of various tools on a recent tool pickup. I can't find any markings or labels, it looks like its bent sheet metal and kinda strikes me as a cheaply made little thing, but I find the palm grip on the back very odd. I do not think I've seen one like this.

Made by Sargent Co. There was also a version made over in the Soviet Union....IIRC....

Hemm, this is cheaper looking than I would have expected by Sargent.
It does however loko a lot like the 2204, with a couple exceptions: the screw is not nearly as finely knurled or well made and the lever cap isn't really a lever cap...it appears to just screw on.
My gut says knock off of a 2204 maybe?

Sargent made a slew of different versions of that plane.
