This is a bit different than the furniture work that many post. This bow started life as a hickory tree in the woods behind my old house. The tools to turn it from a tree to a bow were an old council tool Hudson bay axe to fell the tree, a gransfors bruks hatchet to rough out the stave, some combination of my draw knives and rasps to shape it, a card scraper to finish it, and a chainsaw file to cut the knocks.

Will post a full draw pic once my wife gets home and can take one for me.

It came in lighter than I wanted at about 40lbs so is only a short range deer killer.

Okay that’s fine, but let’s get to work on those arrows.

I have made lots of arrows over the years although tend to buy them now. This one is tunes to shoot CX pile drivers which are my default non wood arrow for home made bows. I do have a maple log that I cut up and rive a set of arrows out of that I need to finish though, glad you reminded me,

Sorry, you need choke cherry and flint to make arrows. What is this maple you speak of paleface?
