I have a State S3 spindle sander and need some more spindles and as all know they are hard to find so being a machinist I was thinking of making 100 and then selling them on Ebay so the question I have is, does anyone know if all of the state models had the same taper with the later machines having the threaded bottom?
Thanks for the help!

Go over to owwm.org. There has been much discussion about the various spindles. They should be of help. Dave

There are a couple types. Tapered, and tapered posi locks.
Don't believe they interchange.
I believe the b4's and s3's were the same without posilock.

Randy, I have a Porter Cable S1 that’s waiting to be refurbished. If the spindles are interchangeable I’m interested. Doubt they would be though.
