My brother brought me back a cherry Burl from Michigan. Like many cherry ones, this one had some minor rot and was holy. I put it between centers and turned a tenon on it. Cored two smaller ones. It cut amazingly smooth with no tear out. Two were sanded on a vacuum chuck with the picece off center and rotated by hand. The one with multiple holes was sanded in my lap. All are finished with wipeon poly.

Amazing work there Bob. Have a cherry burl I'm going to attack later today that I hope isn't as "holy"

Flat out gorgeous wood and a great job on maximizing the yield. Good work, Bob!

Thanks guys. As can be seen the rotting of a cherry tree usually starts near the pith. The farther from the better the wood. The one hole was not expected, but Burl wood makes them all worth keeping.
