I am milling some 8/4 cherry for a chair seat. The boards are too wide for my 8" jointer and had some twist in them. I knocked off the high corners of 19 - 20" sections with a scrub plane and ran them through the planer. 2 of the 3 pieces still had just a little bit of twist in them.
So I shimmed the opposite corners with a few pieces of frog tape, checked for rocking on the table saw top and then ran them trough the planer. A single pass to flatten the top face and then a flip to remove the twist from the opposite face.
This may be a method that has appeared before on SMC in which case I apologize for multiple postings.
