It is mud sale season here in central PA. for those who don't know about them, Auctioneers donate their skills and area folks bring items for sale and the local fire hall gets to keep the sales commission. Called mud sales because the items for sale are lined up out in a field and the ground hasn't fully thawed out yet and gets pretty muddy. Held from late Februrary through mid April. The big granddaddy of Mud sales is the Gordonville Firehall sale. Last time I was there, my bidder number was over 3,000. They will have about 15 auctioneers selling at the same time spread out over 20 acres. Amish quilts in the firehall, new made lawn furniture, nursery plants, horses and livestock, tractors and equipment, building materials, lumber, some industrial equipment, some whatzits, etc.
