Sanders with 2x's capacity

Is a drum sander with a 22" wide sanding capacity really able to be used as a 44" wide sander? Can you turn the piece around and make a matching sanding line or are you going to have problems with sanding sag? Just wondering.:confused:

Yes, if it's set up properly with a very slight offset to avoid a mark in the middle. Do remember that this is NOT finish sanding, so you'll still want to run through the finishing grits with a ROS or use a scraper to get a fine surface before starting your finishing steps.

Like Jim said, adjusting the drum so the middle is slightly thicker makes it possible. I recently decommisioned my 22-44 Pro in favor of a 36" double drum (I'm doing pretty much just cabinet doors now), so if you are shopping, give me a shout.
