Many years ago I bought an Ulmia 354 miter box/saw. It is a beautiful box but the blade is not. It is in a rip pattern 10 teeth per inch with a lot of set. And I think the metal is impulse hardened - the teeth are are somewhat blackened. Any thoughts about replacing or modifying the saw blade - I did remove some set with a diamond stone that helped a bit.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on this to determine if the teeth are impulse hardened or not. When my bandsaw blades have too much set my solution is to put them between a couple of metal plates in my large metal vise to remove some of the set. You could try this with an inch or so at the end of the blade to see if it is a feasible method to remove some of the set. My method doesn't use paper or other spacing as the spring of the blade will not leave the teeth fully without set.
