Evening all,

I started demo on a house I am flipping today and when we pulled up the carpet the pad has basically fused with the hardwood flooring from cats peeing on the floor for years. I spent an hour or so with a putty knife and got some but there are huge areas where it's not making a dent. Anyone have any ideas on how to handle this?

Thanks

I'd go after it with a floor sander. I'd also be wearing a really good respirator!

I would pull up the hardwood and seal the sub floor with shellac. That much cat urine would soak into the wood flooring and the smell is difficult to remove.

You can get a scraper blade for a multi tool that will take up old glued down linoleum pretty quickly. They also make industrial powered scrapers that would work faster. There are places that rent these machines.
