Cleaning stenciled chairs

We have a set of Hitchcock chairs that are about 40 years old and the stenciling is rather faded or muddled. I don't know how else to describe it- it's not really built up dirt and grime. Anyway, does anyone know of the best way to clean and refresh them?

You could try the manufacturer. It looks like the company went out of business, but is now under new ownership. They might be able to steer you in the right direction.
