This curly koa bowl will stay in my private collection. The wood blank comes from the estate of a dear friend Dennis DeLuze. It was by luck and chance that I ended up with this one large piece and dozens of other pen blank size pieces.
The bowl is 11 inches in diameter by 3 1/2 inches high. It is buffed with EEE and finished with Renaissance wax.
If I had really been thinking, I would have made a more traditional Hawaiian form.
I cored a "sliver" that I will turn and then decide what to do with it.

Nice serious beauty, love the "beauty spot" and rosette bottom. Detail in unexpected place is a real personal luxury.

Exceptional bowl George! Beautiful wood and a simple form to show it off. Any reason why you didn't sign it?

I am often too slow to sign my work. In this case, I should sign and note it's history/origins.
I get excited about finishing something... I have at times, not signed pieces till they sell.
I'm a running joke at meetings... "This piece is not signed, must be mine."
