My guides on my old 32 inch, left hand Cresent band saw were worn out and the saws performance has been hurting. I did not like the prices on new guides so I decided to try my hand at making some. I read many posts and sense I have a lot of this phenolic material and an splice plate used on elevator guide rails I started this job. I did the top guide first and tried it out. The top one seemed to work so I did the bottom one today. One member, forget his name, said the phenolic material wears well. If it lasts a reasonable amount of time that will work for me. Replacement will be easy now that I have a pattern. If I put on a thicker or thinner blade I will have to make new shoes(side pieces) but I am going to see how this works before doing that.

The side shoes are bolted on with 1/4-20 allen head bolts and the clearance holes in the shoes are 5/16. This allows for adjustment to the blade.
