Woodworking requires a fair amount metal working. Cutting metal would be easier with a bigger hacksaw. I've been thinking about making one with a blade 16" long and 3/4" wide. I should be able to get a nice selection of blades from a bandsaw blade supplier. Any suggestions on the frame would be appreciated.

You could probably start with a meat saw frame like this. https://www.waltonsinc.com/equipment/saws

Look at powered hacksaw blades. I made a bowsaw and used them for the blade. I beleive most use a 17" blade, or they did when I made mine.

I have found that the easiest way for me to cut metal is to use a Sawzall with a long hack saw blade.

I've found the easiest method is a horizontal metal cutting bandsaw.................Rod.

There are lots of people who have recip. saws. It took me a while to realize this is often a better option than using to a hack saw. I was hoping my experience might help some dummy like me. On the other hand, not very many people have a horizontal metal cutting band saw at their disposal and the ones who do probably don't need anyone to suggest it.

I took a tree trimming bow saw & a piece of an old band saw blade to make a larger hack saw.
Not my idea, Got it from a metalworking/welding site.

You could use a drag saw with the teeth formed for metal cutting.

I have all the cutting tools... What I use most is 6"cut off wheels.
