So the wife has got into beading. Think there are a lot of parts and pieces in woodworking? HA! There may not be many tools involved but wholly mackerel, the number of type, sizes, and colors.

I need to make an organizer for all this stuff. Right now the concept I'm working is a "chest of drawers", 2 over 23. Where the drawers are 12-16" wide, 12-16" deep, and just short of 3" tall (I'm targeting the drawer bottoms to be 3 inches apart). Two stacks of 23 drawers in a case 24-34" wide, 13-17" deep, and 72" tall.

What I'm in need of is methods for making modular drawers dividers. I would like there to be some flexibility in the spacing of each compartment, which mostly rules out the interlocking E design.

So what ideas do you have? Please post your pics and/or links.

Build them to use these little plastic bins. they all are the same base dimension and you can mix and match the sizes in each drawer. non-permanent dividers for small parts are always a pain because they can lift up and mix the contents. these would also be removable, so you could take out the bins you are using and quickly replace them in the same spots.

Interesting option. I built a few drawers using their online tool. Came out to about $22 per drawer, or just over $1000 in little red bins.

Some additional clarification. I'm not looking to organize loose beads, but packages of beads. The individual beads range in seize from 1mm to 20mm in diameter (yeah, most are TINY 1-4mm diameter beads). Although the beads are tiny, the containers and bags they are in are large enough they won't mix easily if a divider comes out. In woodworking terms, I'm not trying organize loose #2 screws and nuts, but packages or containers of them.

FYI. Their weight adds up. A 12" x 8" x 2" flat rate USPS box weighs just over 8 pounds. A 12" x 16" x 3" drawer full could be close to 20 pounds.

I'm sure that would be a whole lot cheaper than the plastic container, though the wood sides do use more of the drawer space. I know, don't complain, you can't have everything. Just pointing out a difference.

One of the suggested videos on youtube while I watched the link above was

This may have some possibility.

I've seen this video before and also some others by him. Very bright and innovative young man.
