Happy New Year SMC!

I'm setting up a new shop and will be mounting most of my hand tools to the wall which has been clad with T-111 siding. Some tools will be on shop-made fixtures (planes, chisels, etc.) but many others are more easily mounted with screws positioned to hold the tool just right. But here's the deal, I'm not crazy about tools resting on the sharp edges of screw threads that can/will scratch the tool.

How have others approached this? I'm sure I'm not the first!

you could use a plastic tube for a spacer and protector. It will look nice if they are all sticking out the same distance as well.

another idea is stiff but flexible tubing, will provide some "grip".

Tygon tubing does a great job of shielding from threads; plus it's clear, easily cut, and very flexible.

For a tighter fix, use the shrink tubing that requires a heat gun.

I keep lots of both around for this issue.
